Mary Elaine is a healthcare expert who has nearly twenty years of healthcare and pharmaceutical sales and marketing experience with neurorehabilitation, hospitals, and home health companies as well as twenty years as a healthcare provider working with children and adults in schools, home care, hospitals, nursing homes, and memory care settings as well as independent and assisted living facilities.  She has a Master’s in Business of Administration Degree in Healthcare Management from Boston University.

Mary Elaine’s unique family legacy of activism in the labor movement in the coalfields in Southern Colorado led her to pursue a career in healthcare as a Speech Language Pathologist; her mission has been to give children and adults a ‘voice’ to communicate their wants and desires.

As part of the “sandwich generation’, she assisted her parents in choosing qualified home healthcare services that matched their needs as well as fproviding financial support to meet their social and emotional needs.

During this process she realized that there are huge groups of people seeking guidance around their parents healthcare and wellness as they retire in record numbers daily! Mary-Elaine has decided to assist these family caregivers just as she did her own parents.

Having come from a line of leaders, Mary Elaine was inspired to use her existing expertise to fill a hole in the market and launched Boomer Health, Wealth and Legacy, Inc.

Caregiving is an immense responsibility and given the sensitive information and conversations needed for things to go smoothly it can make for akward and uncomfortable family conversations.

Mary Elaine’s health and wellness Podcast: Caregiver Cast, Global Summit: The Caregiver Conference and an ongoing Facebook Group full of resources, expert information and interviews as well as comprehensive website and blog full of health and wellness information for Caregivers and those they are caring for has your family in mind when creating useful checklists, expert interviews, masterclasses and bootcamp events.

The Caregiver Notebook: 3 Keys of Caregiving

It may shock you to know that –

Up to 35% of caregivers rate their own health as fair to poor.

40% to 70% of family caregivers have clinically significant symptoms of depression.}

Given that caregivers are stressed, overwhelmed and over worked, it isn’t a surprise that 30% of caregivers die before the person that they’re caring for!

Yes, so many caregivers are stressed, overwhelmed and over worked. In fact, it’s shocking that

30% of caregivers die before the person they’re caring for!

To me, that’s a grim statistic about the toll of how caregiving significantly

impacts the health of caregivers.  Caregivers often work alone without

support, are exhausted and overwhelmed by their caregiving

responsibilities, and are stressed by the demands of juggling the needs of

their immediate family, work, and their parents.
