I am Karen Bonnett Natraj — mental fitness and peak performance coach, ultra-distance athlete, and someone who has rebuilt her life from the inside out more than once.
I was a single mom who put herself through college, survived a toxic relationship, and spent years making herself smaller, quieter and more careful — just to survive. That version of me was exhausted. Not physically. Emotionally. Exhausted from fighting herself every single day.
The moment everything changed was not on a race course. It was sitting in a car on the side of a road, gripping a steering wheel, finally asking the question I had been too afraid to ask:
How long have I been living like this?
That question changed everything.
From that moment, I became obsessed with understanding the human mind — why we self-sabotage, why fear and self-doubt become so automatic, and what it truly takes to break free from the patterns that keep extraordinary people living ordinary lives.
Today I have completed over 50 hundred-mile ultramarathons, 15 Ironman events and three 1,200-kilometer races. I recently toed the line for a 250-mile race. Not because I am fearless — but because I learned to stop letting fear make my decisions.
I did not just study this. I lived it. Every single mile of it.
