Description

"The Confident Parent" summit is a transformative event tailored to parents of children with reading and learning difficulties (whether or not they have been identified with dyslexia or some other learning difference). This immersive experience will provide them with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to confidently guide their child's academic journey while fostering their own wholistic well-being.

Our goal is to equip parents with practical knowledge and actionable strategies that can profoundly enhance their lives and positively impact every aspect of their child’s learning journey. We will explore the interconnectedness of areas such as self-care, healthy lifestyle habits, technology use, rest and relaxation, stress-management, community building and support, and trust in God, among others. By optimizing these factors, we hope to improve parents’ personal lives, family dynamics, and significantly boost the overall well-being and learning outcomes of their children.

By the end of the summit, parents will have a clear understanding of the importance of wholistic development and will be equipped with practical tools, actionable strategies, and resources. They will learn how to create environments that support their child's optimal learning, emotional well-being, and spiritual growth, while also taking care of their own physical, mental, and spiritual health.

Parenting on Purpose: Creating a Future Family Vision
Luz Casquejo Johnston Dr. Luz Casquejo Johnston

3 Takeaways:

  • Default Parenting - If you do not create a family vision, you will most likely default into the way in which you were parented. Most of us experienced, top-down, authoritarian parenting. If we want to do something different, we must first decide what it is we want.
  • Future  Family Vision - The goal of parenting is to raise confident, independent adults who come to us for counsel but are not reliant on us. Defining what that looks like for each family is important.
  • Default Parenting Happens - Even with a Vision, you may find yourself defaulting which can happen when we are emotionally or otherwise depleted. How we repair from these situations will determine how successful we will be.
