Lizette Cloete, the passionate owner of “Think Different” Dementia, is passionately creating uplifting communities of dementia caregivers
Lizette is an Occupational Therapist, who graduated from the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 1992. With her extensive knowledge and experience, she has become a leader in dementia caregiving.
Her dedication to excellence in dementia caregiving is evident through her many accomplishments. She is the only Occupational Therapist in South Carolina certified in Skills2Care, an evidence-based Occupational Therapy framework designed to teach care-partners how to recognize an unmet needs and avoid triggering “challenging” dementia behaviors.
In 2023, she was awarded a grant from the South Carolina Alzheimer’s Resource Coordination Center to develop an innovative online education, dementia coaching and collaborative community for family care partners, entirely accessible from a cell phone.
Lizette holds numerous specialty dementia certifications including Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer for the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioner, Certified Dementia Practitioner, Certified Montessouri Dementia Care Practitioner and is a FitMinds Cognitive Coach to help people with cognitive loss maintain their cognitive status, delaying their decline.
She has served on the South Carolina Occupational Therapy Association's Board of Directors, holding the position of President and Treasurer. She was a board member of the Parkinson's Group of the Ozarks' for several years.

Lizette's impact extends beyond the United States. She has helped individuals all over the world with challenging dementia behaviors, including in South Africa, Kenya, Australia, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and the Philippines.
As a proud mother of two daughters and one son-in-love, Lizette is also a lover of animals. She and her husband currently reside in South Carolina with their two cats, one dog, and many chickens.
