Steve describes himself as a climate strategist, an advocate for nature and, as the original founder of the Bottle Bank glass recycling scheme, a social change engineer. Early in his career, he set off from the UK to travel across Africa. He didn't return for thirty years. He set up as a safari guide in Botswana's Okavango Delta, worked for a ‘Big Four’ management consultancy firm, and carried out strategy assignments for the national parks and wildlife authorities of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. He was a co-founder of the Ecotourism Society of Kenya.
Now based in an English nature reserve, Steve writes with passion on environmental issues. Following the theme of his most recent book, he's now producing documentary ‘Climate Insight’ films, and acts as a trustee for the Sacred Nature Initiative, a Kenya-based conservation programme which aims to alert people the need to save wildlife and nature before it's too late.
Steve talks with first hand authority to anyone who ‘gets’ the need to act with urgency and seriousness to reduce human impacts on the planet, explaining both the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ of adaptation strategy.
