Carmen Leibel has transitioned from news anchor to entrepreneur. After a successful career working in broadcast journalism with CTV for more than 16 years, as a producer, reporter and anchor, Carmen is now helping people of all ages become more confident public speakers.

Carmen launched Project Five, a business idea that sprouted during the pandemic. As a mom, she started to notice how much youth were socializing and communicating online. But to become more confident people who can present, share ideas and opinions, eventually nail that job interview and become a successful employee or employer, public speaking is a crucial skill to have! Carmen decided she wanted to use her years of experience to help people of all ages and launched her business in 2023.

Since last fall Project Five has helped thousands of people communicate with confidence in schools, communities, and businesses. This includes elementary, junior high, high school and post-secondary students. Carmen has also developed corporate workshops and has worked one-on-one with community leaders such as an Olympic gold medalist, high level hockey players, and multiple business owners!

In previous years, Carmen also spent time working in the Office of Public Affairs with the University of Alberta helping researchers, students and professors prepare for media interviews and with public speaking. She has also dedicated time with local organizations, as an emcee and volunteer, such as the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, St. Albert Sturgeon Hospice Association, Rivers Edge Counselling Centre, Canadian Breast Cancer Society, Wellspring Edmonton, Edmonton Down Syndrome Society, and Autism Speaks.
