"BubbleUp" Beats "TrickleDown": Families Everywhere Can Take Responsibility to Solve the Climate Crisis
Dave Finnigan Founder, Green Actioneers

72% of the carbon in the atmosphere comes from actions by households and individuals so it is time to mobilize families everywhere to solve this problem. We're starting with family night in school like we did with so many other issues like Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Stop Smoking, Anti Littering, seat belt use and recycling.  That’s what we will be doing with Green Actioneers.  That’s how effective culture change programs start, from the bottom up starting in schools.

Please let’s work together to get a FREE copy of the Green Actioneers Family Action Guide into the hands and minds of every family all over the US and Canada and in other countries as well.  We give it FREE as a digital download to every family that comes to Green Actioneers Family Night in their kids’ school.  Family Night is like a Scholastic Books Book Fair, but with only one book, ours.  Everyone goes through the book together and then goes home with a free digital copy.  Then every time a family takes any green action their kids can put a sticky note up on a chart in their classroom letting all the other families know what they have done for their collective future.  Some of the actions that families take might be considered “chores.”  Some is volunteer work and community involvement. The entire project is focused on family creativity and improving communication and family bonds as they make plans to “go green” and take action together.

The program is like “scouting for the 21st century” or “Drawdown for households.”  Our collective work in every school in the US, Canada and throughout the Americas can be very powerful.  Kids bring their parents to Family Night and working together they will mobilize a whole school and the community beyond the school.  With your help we’ll take this program school by school and community by community all over the World.  Our goal is not to make money, it is to make a difference.

In my presentation I'll be rehearsing my TEDx talk that will be delivered on April 10th in San Jose, CA, telling how my several careers all lead to the inescapable conclusion that for a culture to change it is vital that the change begins at the household level and not at the international or central government level.  With Climate Change this is apparent after we've heard about 29 COPs or Congresses of Parties that have brought together hundreds of thousands of leaders but have NOT led to any measurable changes in collective carbon footprint.

From Conflict to Connection: Finding Common Ground With Your Teen
Isla Reddin Teen Conflict to Connection

Think of the caterpillar becoming a butterfly: the chrysalis phase, when the caterpillar transforms to take a new form has many similarities to the child becoming an adult in the teenage years.  Parents need to learn about the transformation and adapt their parenting strategies to support our teens and ourselves.  Spoiler alert!  You, the parent are the one who changes your expectations and strategies. The goal of the teenage years is not to make us crazy, but rather to foster a huge change in brain chemistry and wiring in preparation for life as a confident and competent adult.

Attendees will learn:
- The teenage years have as much development as 0-7 but we just can't see it; why does this matter?

  • The brain is at its most creative and capable during these years - how to support this opportunity?
  • Are we expecting too much or not enough of our teenagers?
  • Why some things teenagers do are mind-numbingly strange
  • How understanding brain development creates connection and deeper communication with your teen and completely changes your relationship.

Join us as we discover how simple gardening projects can spark a love for nature and gardening in children, while also providing quality time for families to bond and connect.

We'll also cover tips for helping you have gardening fit into your lifestyle and how it can put your children on the trajectory of being independent and responsible.

How to Bridge Gaps, Resolve Conflicts, and Strengthen Emotional Bonds
Robert Tettero Transformational Coach

No matter what book you read on parenting, it won't let us parents off the hook for all the mistakes we make in probably the most challenging job in the world unless you're enlightened. I genuinely believe that parents always have the best intentions in mind, but regretfully, children will push our buttons and trigger all our unresolved childhood traumas. Before we know it, we do things we know are wrong, but we get caught up in our own shortcomings and get stuck in cyclic repetitive patterns that we feel we can't get out of. Mistakes are inevitable, but the question is, how we deal with them. Reconciliation is the answer. I will open that door for you and show you what reconciling entails and how to achieve it

Families Have Habits-Use Them To Better Bond & Grow!
Ronnie Loaiza RonnieLo Life Coach

Your Family - as a unit - falls into family dynamics, and that's because you fall into the same patterns which is another name for “Habits”.

Individually you each bring your personalities and traits, and your individual habitual way of thinking, But at the same time, your children are conditioned by you to a great extent. They then condition themselves year after year, via their social and cultural experiences.    Ronnie will touch the tip of the family dynamic iceberg in showing how we fall into habits, that affect or drive how the household runs, how we express ourselves, how we communicate to each other, how we answer to each other - or not- and how we attach and detach. We can create individual and family habits to improve our patterns that determine our daily and long-term dynamics, and wellbeing. From financial habits to cleaning and organizing and bonding habits. We can create new habits as a unit, to grow - together.
